With over 83 million developers, GitHub is one of the sought-after internet hosting services for software development and version control.
Therefore, Ethereum continues to align itself in the development arena, given that its 30-day rolling average on GitHub is the highest, according to Santiment.
The much-anticipated merge slated for next month seems to jumpstart things in the Ethereum network. For instance, Ethereum miner addresses have been going through the roof.
Crypto reporter Colin Wu, noted:
“According to OKLink, due to the merge, the current balance of Ethereum miner addresses has reached the highest level in three years, with a value of 254,846.35 ETH.”

Furthermore, 36,000 ETHs have been added weekly as the merge edges closer. Wu added:
“According to OKLink, the number of ETH 2.0 deposit contract addresses has reached 13,343,768, and the stake rate has exceeded 11.17%. About 36,000 ETHs have been added every week, and 153,000 new ETHs have been staked since August.”

The merge is speculated to be the biggest software upgrade in the Ethereum ecosystem by offering a transition from a proof-of-work (PoW) to a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
Ethereum’s co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, recently hinted that the merge would happen around September 15.
