How to Get Started

Step 1: Get Verified

Students aged 13 or older, enrolled in a degree or diploma-granting course, are eligible for the GitHub Student Developer Pack. Verification involves filling out an application on GitHub's education page, demonstrating current enrollment. The process is straightforward, with guidance provided throughout.

Step 2: Prepare for Your Exam

The exam covers foundational topics of collaborating and working on GitHub. Preparation resources, including study guides and FAQs, are available through the GitHub Foundations Experience. Students can review these materials before attempting the exam.

Step 3: Take the Exam

Students can register for the non-proctored exam through GitHub's testing provider, PSI. The exam, available 24/7, can be taken at the student's convenience within 60 days of registration. If unable to complete the exam in this period, students can cancel without penalty.

Step 4: Get Your Credential

Upon passing the exam, students receive a digital badge from Credly, which can be shared on platforms like LinkedIn or Facebook, enhancing their professional profile.
