Uniswap (UNI) Labs, in collaboration with the Uniswap Foundation and Cantina, has announced a groundbreaking security competition for its upcoming v4 release. The competition, featuring a $2.35 million prize pool, is set to be the largest in decentralized finance (DeFi) history, according to Uniswap Protocol.

Competition Details

The v4 security competition will commence on September 4, 2024, and run until September 30, 2024. Participants are invited to submit vulnerabilities found in the v4 core contracts, periphery contracts, and the Universal Router. The rewards will be allocated based on the severity of the discovered bugs and the quality of the documentation provided in the submissions.

Scope and Participation

The competition will focus on reviewing specific GitHub repositories for vulnerabilities. Bugs found in other smart contracts that pose a risk to user funds should be submitted to the Uniswap bug bounty program.

Interested participants can register and find more details on the Cantina Competition Page, where the v4 Competition will be posted when it goes live in September. The page will feature comprehensive information on the scope, final commit, and prize pool tiers.

Funding and Terms

The prize pool is funded by Uniswap Labs, the Uniswap Foundation, and Certora. By submitting a report, participants grant the sponsors all necessary rights, including intellectual property rights, to validate, mitigate, and disclose the vulnerability. Reward decisions, including eligibility and amounts, are at the discretion of Uniswap Labs, the Uniswap Foundation, and Cantina. The full terms and conditions will be available soon and may be subject to changes.

This initiative underscores Uniswap's commitment to security and transparency in the DeFi space, aiming to ensure that v4 will be the most audited set of contracts ever deployed on-chain.
