XRP Price Prediction: All Moving Averages Turn Overhead as Futures Open Interest Climbs Into the Drop

The Technical Damage

XRP's Thursday session traced a 24-hour range of $1.20 to $1.32 on Binance spot before settling at $1.26. That $0.12 range is more than double the 14-day Average True Range of $0.05, making it an unusually wide session relative to recent norms. The move has left XRP beneath its 7-day SMA ($1.29), 20-day SMA ($1.32), 50-day SMA ($1.40), EMA 12 ($1.30), and EMA 26 ($1.34) simultaneously. The 200-day SMA at $1.28 provides the nearest overhead reference: XRP sits two cents beneath it, and a close above it would remove one layer of resistance, though the denser cluster of averages stacked between $1.29 and $1.34 presents the more meaningful obstacle.

The Bollinger Band configuration reinforces that picture. With the lower band at $1.25, the middle band at $1.32, and the upper band at $1.39, the %B reading of 0.113 places XRP near the lower extreme of its recent volatility envelope. That positioning describes where price sits within recent ranges; it does not, on its own, determine the direction of the next move.

Momentum at a Flat Inflection

The 14-period daily RSI at 38.51 sits in neutral territory, trending toward the oversold threshold at 30 without having crossed it. The sell-off has been sustained rather than exhausted, but the reading does not reach the kind of extreme that has historically preceded sharp reversals on its own.

The MACD offers more texture. With both the MACD line and the signal line reading -0.034, the histogram registers exactly 0.0000 — bearish momentum has stalled rather than extended, which marks a potential inflection point but still requires confirmation from subsequent price action. The Stochastic oscillator is consistent with that read: %K at 31.01 sits above %D at 24.80 in the lower register, a configuration that can precede a bullish crossover without yet having produced one. Across these three indicators, the picture is one of deceleration rather than reversal.

Rising Open Interest Against a Falling Price

The most notable derivatives data point from Thursday's session is an 11.48% surge in Binance futures open interest, bringing the notional value to approximately $404.24 million. Rising open interest alongside a falling spot price is ambiguous by nature: it can reflect new short positions pressing the breakdown or longs building exposure at lower levels. The data does not resolve which.

Positioning data observed at 07:00 UTC on October 30 shows Binance global accounts running 73.8% long against 26.2% short, while the Binance top-trader cohort sits at 77.2% long versus 22.8% short. These figures describe allocation within specific Binance account cohorts and should not be read as a broader market sentiment gauge. A heavy long skew into a declining price can reflect either deliberate accumulation or a pool of positions vulnerable to liquidation if support levels fail. The 8-hour funding rate of 0.0083% is neutral, meaning perpetual futures carry no meaningful premium or discount to spot. The 1-hour taker buy/sell ratio of 1.22 — buy volume of 16.38 million contracts against sell volume of 13.44 million — shows marginal dominance by aggressive market-order buyers over a narrow window that sits within a daily structure that remains bearish.

Arrieche's Level Framework

Analyst Alejandro Arrieche identified the $1.31 area as a recovery trigger in a note dated October 27, 2026, with a near-term target of $1.55 conditional on a confirmed breakout above that level. At $1.26, XRP has not reached that trigger, let alone cleared it.

In a subsequent note on October 28, Arrieche framed nearer targets with $1.30 as the explicit invalidation point, citing a conservative target of $1.38 and an aggressive target of $1.42, both conditional on XRP holding above $1.30. With spot printing $1.26, that invalidation level has been breached. Neither target scenario remains active unless XRP reclaims and closes above $1.30 in a later session.

Combining Arrieche's framework with the supplied technical data produces a clear level hierarchy. The $1.30 mark is the threshold that re-activates the recovery case. The $1.31–$1.32 band is where analyst opinion, the 20-day SMA, and the immediate resistance level in the supplied data all converge. The $1.38 level appears both as Arrieche's conservative target and as the strong resistance in the technical data. The $1.55 objective is the more expansive scenario and requires a confirmed break through that upper resistance band before it comes into view.

The Downside Scenario

Immediate support sits at $1.20, which also marked the low of Thursday's 24-hour range, with stronger support at $1.14. At the supplied daily ATR of $0.05, a move from $1.26 to $1.20 represents roughly 1.2 average daily ranges — a distance that could be covered in a single volatile session without constituting an outsized move. A daily close below $1.20 would extend the structural breakdown and shift attention to $1.14 as the next meaningful floor.

XRP is already trading one cent above the Bollinger lower band at $1.25. A close beneath the $1.25–$1.26 zone would undercut the case for a compression-driven bounce and leave the momentum balance in favour of sellers.
