(Rejected 2) A Lightning Development Kit To Ensure Secure And Seamless Bitcoin Wallets Is Being Developed By Square Crypto

Square Crypto is developing what they described as "a lighting development kit" which they are hoping would boost bitcoin’s privacy, scaling, security and UX which will help to ensure that bitcoin becomes a well-accepted global currency built on trust and scalability. Bearing in mind the responses they got from themselves about what will trigger global adoption of bitcoin and the expressions they got from wallet developers, they concluded that the solution is building more wallets that will ensure flexibility.

In actualising their aim, instead of developing a standalone wallet, they are committed to creating a lightning development kit shortened as LDK which will grant developers the chance to built custom experience in a relaxed way.

The teams are optimistic that LDK will add Lightning capabilities to existing bitcoin wallets and thus create a different wallet for lightning is not necessary. It will support multi-device and multi-application access to a single wallet. It will also allow wallets to make UX/security/privacy tradeoffs sand can customize their state backup to a cloud service.

With an API, language bindings, demo apps, and other important features,  integrating Lightning into the wallets and applications will be convenient, configurable, and secure.

Notably, the medium post explained that the said API is anchored on the Rust-Lightning project. This then makes it possible for convenience since the Rust-Lightning upon which it is based gives room for clean interfaces and reduced system dependencies. Another thing about Rust is one of the known safest systems languages. This will help to attract the attention of developers who can sustain LDK without depending on the Square Crypto teams.

According to the report, the team hopes that the support of developers like Acinq, Blockstream, Lightning Labs, and open-source developers everywhere, the dream of having an instant, low-fee bitcoin payments will be possible.
