1.    Bakkt Warehouse Insures Bitcoin deposits with $125M
According to an announcement on September 9th, the Bitcoin deposited in the Bakkt Warehouse is protected by a $125 million insurance policy. The company began accepting deposits and withdrawals last week.

 

2.    IBM Seizes Majority of Hyperledger Blockchain Steering Board

IBM now holds 6 of 11 seats on the technical steering committee of Hyperledger, raising concerns about the tech company’s growing influence on the enterprise blockchain consortium.

 

3.    Chinese Yuan-backed Stablecoin Launched on the Ethereum Blockchain

        Tether has launched a Chinese Yuan-backed stablecoin, which will run on top of the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token. 

 

4.    Facebook’s Libra is Being Backed by Major Currencies

Several major national currencies will back Libra, these include the U.S dollar, the euro, Japanese yen, the British pound and Singapore dollar. Bloomberg reported that the Chinese Yuan will most likely be excluded form the group of reserve assets.

 

5.    First Ever Blockchain-Based IPO Launches on National Stock Exchange

MERJ Exchange, the national stock exchange of Seychelles had previously announced a partnership with a UK-based fintech firm, Globacap to issue tokenized securities available on the MERJ exchange platform.
