(Rejected) Centaline Eyes Digitization Via Real Estate Blockchain Platform
The digital economy has become inevitable in modern society because of the technological innovations witnessed. Blockchain seeks to be a game-changer in this area by transforming various industries.
Notably, Centaline Property Agency, one of the most prominent real estate players in Hong Kong, has established a blockchain platform intended at digitizing the sector, as well as maximizing the convenience and utility of property buyers.
Centaline’s Blockchain Initiative
The blockchain project is being undertaken in collaboration with a local tech company TFI Blockchain Technology and cloud computing and software giant Microsoft.
According to EJ Insight, the chief executive of Centaline Data Technology, Tomy Pang, stipulated that the transactions involved in second-hand properties are tedious and lengthy as detailed forms are necessitated.
These procedures, therefore, irritate potential buyers and sellers because of the substantial paperwork involved. For instance, they are subjected to signing many forms.
Pang noted that this was a challenge faced in the property agency market because the transfer of paper documents makes property information and pricing discrepancies inevitable based on handwriting errors.
Pang stipulated that blockchain will be pivotal in averting this challenge by digitizing the paperwork involved. For instance, it will make documents immutable; hence, they cannot be tamper-proof. Additionally, the distributed ledger availed makes the sharing and verification of the data and materials involved easier.
