Event Rating: Algorand Hong Kong Meetup

The Algorand Hong Kong meetup is held in Admiralty 25 April! Here’s our evaluation of this meetup!
Overall rating: B+ (Maximum rating: A+)
1) Theme of the blockchain event
Score: 4/5
The theme of meetup is on the latest development of Algorand. The keynote speaker Jing Chen, chief scientist of Algorand, presented a clear picture on the limitation of current Proof-of-Stake protocols and blockchain trilemma faced by blockchain developers. The content is understandable for audience with basic knowledge in blockchain. As most participants do not have technical background in blockchain, we think Jing’s presentation is able to provide a basic picture to audience on the key elements of Algorand’s mechanism and consensus protocol.
2) Scale of event
Score:3/5
There are around 30 participants in this meetup. This meetup is catered for community, partners and developers. However, we noticed that most participants are from crypto project teams instead of blockchain developers. Raising more awareness from blockchain developers are rooms of improvement for Algorand’s upcoming meetups.
3) Amount of promotional content
Score: 3.5/5
Despite it’s a meetup for Algorand, we think that there is little promotional content from Algorand. Algorand’s team explained the details of using Dutch auction as token allocation yet we don’t see them deliberately seeking funding or investments from potential investors. We believe this is a good practice from the project teams.
4) Event location, transportation and logistics arrangement
Score:4/5
Two Pacific Place in Admiralty is a decent location with its proximity to MTR and public transport. The event overrun a bit but is acceptable in general. Nice refreshments for the audience as well!
