How Would You Spend $4.57m? Tron’s Justin Sun will Lunch with Warren Buffet
Justin Sun, the founder of Tron (TRX) bid a record-breaking $4,567,888 to win a charity auction, which he will have a chance to lunch with Warren Buffett, as revealed by the Cointelegraph on 3 June. The record-breaking bid is part of the “Oracle of Omaha’s” annual charity auction for the GLIDE Foundation.
All proceeds from the auction will be donated to GLIDE Foundation, a non-profit organization helping communities in need such as homeless and ethnic minorities.
Justin wrote in his statement expressing the contribution to foundations like GLIDE has been a top priority for his team. He said “BitTorrent and TRON’s US headquarters are in San Francisco, and bidding on this charity auction was a key priority for our team. I’m proud to have my bid donated to GLIDE, a foundation that provides critical support for our local homeless community.”
The lunch between Justin and Warren Buffett may spark some debates on the value of Bitcoin and blockchain. As Warren Buffett is known for his criticism for Bitcoin where he said Bitcoin is a “gambling device” with “a lot of frauds connected with it”. While Buffet remains skeptical on Bitcoin, he offers positive feedback on blockchain saying “Blockchain...is very big, but it didn’t need bitcoin. J.P. Morgan of course came out with their own cryptocurrency.”
