Beyond its complete overhauling of the financial and payment system, blockchain technology’s grip on communication is gaining remarkable traction. While its use in social media as seen in Steemit has been bolstered over the years, Geneva-based fintech startup Mt Pelerin just conducted its first annual shareholder's meeting on the blockchain. This innovative stride is more pertinent with the general embargo on physical gathering and the need to enforce social distancing measures. The Mt Pelerin blockchain meeting was held over the startup's new blockchain-powered mobile app, Bridge Wallet.

Mt Pelerin: Coursing the Path for Big Blockchain Leaps

Mt Pelerin coined its name from the Mont Pelerin Society and the organization consist of a team of entrepreneurs working on the creation of a new kind of financial institution in Geneva, Switzerland. The company specializes in the application of blockchain to finance. It does this by harnessing the technology to create an ecosystem that will propel the new era of financial digitalization that blockchain makes possible.

In October 2018, Mt Pelerin Group SA was the first company in the world to incorporate its shares on the blockchain through the MPS, a freely transferable ERC20 token providing direct ownership of shares under the provisions of Swiss law. This pioneering stride of Mt Pelerin got complemented with the just concluded shareholders meeting with about 630 participants.

An Innovation Begging Adoption

There are groundbreaking video conferencing applications and sites including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet. While these softwares provide a great user experience that has gained wide adoption worldwide, none has blockchain features. The Mt Pelerin video conference provision can be a new landmark in communications and is worth exploring. With blockchain technology, many of the groundbreaking technological breakthroughs can be remodeled to offer more flexibility, greater decentralization, and enhanced privacy. These values can make a huge difference in communication tools adopting or integrating blockchain technology.
