(Rejected) Nigel Farage, Brexit Party Leader, Embraces Bitcoin, Calls BTC The “Ultimate Anti-Lockdown Investment”
Nigel Farage, the leader of the Brexit party, is the latest politician celebrity to turn to Bitcoin and embrace the cryptocurrency as a real investment opportunity. Farage is known for his opposition against the British government COVID-19 lockdowns. He believes that government lockdowns have been an “unspeakable cruelty” toward populations.
Farage is the founder of a new financial publication called “Fortune & Freedom” that is geared toward helping readers to take control of their own money. It is a free newsletter published every day by Southbank Investment Research Limited. In the latest edition of the newsletter, Farage has called the leading cryptocurrency as the “ultimate anti-lockdown investment.”
In his recent interview with Southbank Investment Research editor, Sam Volkering, the Brexit party leader acknowledged he has a little bit late to embrace Bitcoin because of what he described: “I’ve been a bit lazy.” He, however, said that his move to accept Bitcoin is not a big surprise as everyone is talking about the leading cryptocurrency.
Farage said:
“It’s the subject everyone’s talking about — no they really are! From the poorest to the richest in the land, one of the conversations that’s going on is about cryptocurrency. The reason is all too obvious: it's that governments are, through this pandemic, creating vast amounts of funny money, debasing currencies, and people are scared about what this means for their money, their investments...”
Farage admitted that he is not an expert in the subject, but expects people to learn and discuss about cryptocurrencies because the digital form of money is set to play a vital role in the future. He mentioned that people really need to educate themselves about the cryptocurrency revolution. He stated that it would be important for people to get their minds around cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin Going Mainstream
Over recent days, Bitcoin has climbed higher towards its all-time highs of around $20,000 per Bitcoin set late in 2017. The cryptocurrency has captured the interest of the general public and gained mainstream attention due to its price rally and being endorsed by mainstream financial pundits.
Bitcoin gains this year follow a wider embrace from wall street investors and prominent money managers who became crypto converts. For example, macro investor Paul Tudor Jones bought the top cryptocurrency as a hedge against potential inflation. PayPal payment giant recently said that it would allow its customers to access crypto assets, an announcement that has spurred much interest among people to use digital tokens.
