Sexual assault has emerged to be a menace across the globe. The worst thing is that most of the victims usually shy away from airing their experiences. Additionally, various questions typically linger in the victims’ minds, such as will the conversation endanger me further?

Smashboard app seeks to eradicate the stigmatization faced by sexual abuse victims by integrating blockchain technology as they can privately disclose their offenders’ details, such as names. 

The #MeToo movement in India has been involved in publicizing many offenders, as well as revealing the victims’ identities. This approach has proven to be detrimental because many sexual assault culprits have been choosing to stay mute about their tribulations. 

Smashboard App Fronts itself as a Digital Ally

The smashboard app was founded by an independent journalist, Noopur Tiwari, to position itself as a digital ally for men, women, and other groups, who are survivors of sexual assault. 

It, therefore, seeks to make the reporting of sexual crimes less traumatic for the survivors by deploying blockchain in the creation of encrypted, private, and, online ledgers of the assault.

Tiwari ascertained: “Seeking help can be risky for survivors, and there are consequences of revealing one’s identity. Often, survivors have undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder that comes in the way of seeking help.” 

Smashboard app also comprises of enlisted legal and mental health practitioners, as well as a time-stamped journal pivotal in helping the survivors in seeking justice and their recovery journeys.
