Washington State Senate Introduced bill with Blockchain and DLT definition

The Washington State Senate introduced a bill that “recognizes the validity of distributed ledger technology”, which will amend the “purpose and construction” and “definitions” under the “Washington Electronic Authentication Act”.

The bill added two definitions of blockchain into the existing act, one is “Blockchain means a cryptographically secured, chronological, and decentralized consensus ledger or consensus database maintained via internet, peer-to-peer network, or other similar interaction.”

Another definition also added into the existing act “Distributed ledger technology means any distributed ledger protocol and supporting infrastructure, including blockchain, that uses a distributed, decentralized, shared, and replicated ledger.”
