Agglayer, a blockchain interoperability platform, has made a significant advancement by launching pessimistic proofs on its mainnet. The upgrade lays the foundation for Agglayer to support a multistack future by accommodating various security models across different blockchain networks.

Previously, only chains utilizing the Polygon CDK could safely connect to Agglayer. The v0.2 release of Agglayer introduces two critical features: enhanced flexibility for connecting chains with different security models and improved safety for cross-chain transactions.

How Pessimistic Proofs Work

Agglayer's pessimistic proof model collects three essential pieces of information: ensuring chains update correctly, performing accurate internal accounting, and validating that chains do not attempt to withdraw unallocated tokens. This method guarantees that each chain's actions do not compromise the security of the entire network.

By generating these proofs, Agglayer positions itself as a minimal and flexible platform capable of supporting a wide range of blockchains. This development is a step towards Agglayer becoming stack agnostic, allowing seamless integration of various blockchain technologies.

Future Developments and Multistack Capabilities

Looking ahead, Agglayer plans to release its v0.3 version by the end of Q1, which will bring full multistack capabilities. This update will enable Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains to connect and operate through Agglayer, further enhancing its interoperability potential.
