Anthropic Launches Personal Finance in Claude for US Beta Users
Anthropic has announced the launch of Personal Finance in Claude, a new feature designed to simplify financial management by enabling users to securely connect their bank and card accounts and ask natural-language questions about their finances. The feature, which began rolling out in beta on November 5, 2026, is available to Pro, Max, and Ultra plan subscribers in the United States.
How Personal Finance in Claude Works
Personal Finance in Claude allows users to link up to 16 financial accounts through Plaid, a service that facilitates secure connections between apps and banks. With read-only access, Claude can analyze balances, transactions, and spending patterns without the ability to move, manage, or invest money. Users can ask questions such as "Where did my money go this month?" or "Am I spending more than I make?" and receive detailed breakdowns by category, historical comparisons, and insights into upcoming payments.
For example, if a user asks, "What’s left before payday?" Claude calculates the remaining balance after accounting for upcoming transactions, such as bills or subscriptions. Users can also request visualizations, including weekly spending charts, calendars of due payments, or customized dashboards.
Privacy and Security Features
Anthropic emphasizes the security and privacy of the feature. Claude’s access is strictly read-only, and users must authenticate their accounts through Plaid without sharing bank passwords. Conversations within the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic’s models, and users can unlink accounts at any time to revoke access. The data Claude can view includes account names, types, balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transactions.
However, Anthropic notes potential limitations, such as balances being up to two days old or accounts connected through multiple logins being counted twice. Additionally, the feature is not designed to provide investment advice, and financial information shared outside the dedicated hub is subject to broader privacy settings.
Future Developments
While Personal Finance in Claude currently focuses on helping users understand their financial situation, Anthropic envisions the tool complementing licensed professionals and regulated financial services. The company has invited banks, wealth managers, and financial services firms to collaborate on shaping the feature’s future capabilities.
Users interested in trying the feature can access it via Claude’s sidebar, connect an account, and begin with simple queries like "Can I afford a trip this spring?" or "How much could I save each month?" Setup instructions and additional privacy details are available in Claude’s Help Center.
