BNB Chain Optimizes Traffic Management Amid High Demand
In response to increasing transaction delays during peak usage times, BNB Chain has unveiled its latest optimization strategy aimed at improving traffic management. According to the BNB Chain blog, this new approach is designed to better handle the surge in traffic on Binance Smart Chain (BSC).
Addressing Transaction Delays
The BNB Chain community identified a significant issue where transactions were not being processed in a timely manner during high-traffic periods. Users who increased their gas fees to expedite transactions still faced delays, as validator nodes did not always prioritize transactions based on the highest overall value.
Challenges in Current System
The current system on BNB Chain prioritizes getting all transactions on-chain quickly, which minimizes the average wait time in the mempool. However, this method proved suboptimal for fast-paced trading environments, such as meme coin trading, where even minor price changes can have substantial effects.
Optimization Through Enhanced Block Selection
The new optimization strategy focuses on refining block selection by prioritizing time-sensitive transactions. This includes transactions involving meme coins, which will now receive higher priority. The update introduces a short waiting period before block sealing, allowing validators to gather more bids and potentially incorporate the most lucrative ones.
By providing additional time within the 3-second block window, validators can improve their block-building performance, especially during periods of high network activity. This enhancement aims to ensure that transactions are processed more efficiently, reducing delays and improving user experience.
The BNB Chain's commitment to addressing these issues is evident in the continuous updates to its system, as seen in the recent release versions v1.4.18 and v1.5.6. These updates are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the blockchain's capabilities in managing increased demand.
