The BNB Greenfield network is gearing up for the Mongolian hardfork, which will introduce significant updates and enhancements to the platform, according to the BNB Chain Blog. This hardfork aims to improve user experience and streamline app development for Greenfield developers.

Key Dates and Actions

The Testnet Mongolian hardfork is scheduled to occur at block height 10,780,238, estimated to take place on July 31, 2024, at 07:00 AM UTC. Following this, the Mainnet Mongolian hardfork is set for block height 10,314,605, anticipated to occur on August 8, 2024, at 07:00 AM UTC.

Validators and Storage Providers (SPs) are required to upgrade to the latest version before the hardfork. It is crucial to note that the upcoming hardfork will not impact account balances on Greenfield. All buckets and objects stored on Greenfield will remain accessible.

New Features for Greenfield

The developer community is introducing several features and bug fixes to enhance the platform:

  • Support for message creation policy cross-chain (PR #639)
  • Fix for initial value comparison to be large enough (PR #639)

Updates for Storage Providers (SPs)

  • Idempotent processing for the receive done interface (PR #1428)

Further bug fixes and refactoring details can be found in the changelog and the related repositories for the Greenfield Blockchain and Greenfield SP.

These updates reflect Greenfield's commitment to improving user and developer experiences. The goal is to create a robust ecosystem where decentralized storage services are easily accessible to all users.
