Circle launches hourly USDC Match auctions for Mint customers
Circle said it has introduced Circle Match, an hourly auction service for eligible Circle Mint customers that pairs USDC mint and redemption orders and changes the economics of those flows inside Mint. In the company’s Oct. 22, 2026 blog post, matched mints receive the auction fee as a rebate, while matched redemptions pay one uniform clearing fee at or below the Express rate.
Evidence and context
According to Circle’s announcement, Circle Match is designed for institutions that move USDC at volume and want to match offsetting demand inside Mint rather than through separate OTC desks or exchanges. The company said minters set the minimum rebate they will accept and redeemers set the maximum fee they will pay, with both sides keeping control of their own terms. If orders match, the redeeming side pays one clearing fee and the minting side receives that full fee as a rebate, subject to product terms, auction rules and any disclosed exceptions.
Circle said each auction runs hourly and uses prefunded orders. To redeem, customers deposit USDC; to mint, they wire USD into a separate Circle Match balance that converts to USDC when it settles. The company said new orders can join until clearing, followed by a one-minute lock during which existing orders can be improved but not withdrawn. Better-priced orders are filled first, orders at the clearing fee are allocated pro rata, and any unmatched amount follows the participant’s chosen fallback action of Fallback, Roll or Cancel.
The company also said the service is available through the Mint interface and API for eligible customers, with real-time auction data for programmatic workflows. Circle described the arrangement as optional from one auction to the next, with self-match prevention and no bilateral onboarding or credit lines required. Unmatched mint-side funds remain separate from the normal Mint wallet until used, and participants can keep them available for later auctions or redeem them back to USD without charge.
The announcement sits alongside Circle’s broader redemption pricing disclosures. On Oct. 19, 2026, Circle’s Help Center said standard redemptions remain fee-free while Express redemptions carry a 5-basis-point fee, subject to eligible credits. Circle Match’s auction fee and rebate mechanism is separate from those standard Mint redemption terms, according to the company’s material.
USDC was trading at $0.999464 as of Oct. 22, 2026, according to the supplied market data, with a 24-hour change of -0.02591% and a market capitalization of $71.987 billion. The price data do not determine Circle Match’s auction fee, which Circle said depends on the orders in each auction and is not guaranteed.
The reviewed material does not provide an exact launch timestamp beyond the Oct. 22, 2026 publication date, and it does not establish how much volume Circle Match will capture or how often auctions will clear. Circle said access is approval-gated and may vary by jurisdiction.
