CoreWeave and Bulk Infrastructure Collaborate for Massive NVIDIA AI Deployment in Europe
CoreWeave, known as the AI Hyperscaler™, has partnered with Bulk Infrastructure to create one of the largest NVIDIA AI deployments in Europe. The collaboration will take place at the N01 Datacenter Campus in Vennesla, Norway, according to PR Newswire.
Strategic Partnership for AI Expansion
This strategic partnership will see CoreWeave utilizing Bulk's N01 Datacenter Campus for deploying a large-scale NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 cluster. The infrastructure will be interconnected with NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking, aiming to significantly enhance the region's compute capacity. The deployment is set to be operational by the summer of 2025.
In 2024, CoreWeave announced a substantial $2.2 billion investment across Europe to build new data centers. These centers are set to deliver the latest AI infrastructure powered by 100% renewable energy, showcasing CoreWeave's commitment to sustainable technology.
Norwegian Government's Support
The initiative has received support from the Norwegian government. Karianne Tung, the Norwegian Minister of Digitalisation and Public Governance, expressed her pleasure with the partnership. She highlighted that Norway's selection as a host country for CoreWeave's expanded AI infrastructure underscores its attractiveness as a location for high-quality data center services. The initiative aligns with the government's goal to establish a national AI infrastructure by 2030.
Commitment to Sustainability and Scalability
Mike Mattacola, Chief Business Officer at CoreWeave, emphasized the importance of the partnership in expanding regional capacity to meet the growing demand for AI and high-performance computing. Bulk Infrastructure's CEO, Jon Gravråk, noted that working with a globally recognized AI company like CoreWeave marks a significant milestone for Bulk, demonstrating its capability to meet major customers' needs.
Jaap Zuiderveld, Vice President EMEA at NVIDIA, remarked that the deployment of the NVIDIA GB200 cluster represents a significant step in scaling advanced AI compute capacity in one of Europe's most sustainable locations.
Infrastructure and Location Details
The N01 Datacenter Campus is strategically located in Southern Norway's Agder region, adjacent to one of Europe's largest transformer stations. The site benefits from direct and redundant connections to multiple hydropower stations, ensuring 100% renewable energy supply. Bulk has secured 400 MW at the site, with the potential to scale up to 1GW.
