Gala Film Prepares for $FILM Token Generation Event on December 5th

The Gala Film community is eagerly anticipating the upcoming Token Generation Event (TGE) for the $FILM token, set to take place on December 5, 2024, according to Gala News. This event marks a pivotal moment for the platform as it seeks to enhance its decentralized film ecosystem.

The Evolution of Gala Film

Gala Film has been developing its decentralized community-run Theater Node network throughout the year, offering exclusive content and reward-enabled NFT Moments. The platform aims to revolutionize the video content industry by empowering filmmakers and viewers through its web3 capabilities.

Initially envisioned by Gala Games over two years ago, Gala Film leverages the power of web3 to transform the filmmaking landscape. This initiative is built on the foundation of GalaChain, a layer-1 blockchain designed for entertainment, which is now open for third-party development.

Introducing $FILM

The $FILM token will serve as the core of the Gala Film ecosystem, acting as both a reward and utility token. It will facilitate economic flow within the platform, benefitting creators, viewers, and collectors. The token will be distributed across various participants, including Theater Node operators, Founder’s Node operators, content creators, and Moment NFT owners.

Distribution and Utility

The distribution of $FILM is designed to incentivize ecosystem participation. Theater Node operators will receive 17.5% of the daily $FILM distribution, while Founder’s Node operators will get 2.5%. Content creators, Moment NFT owners, and ecosystem supporters will also receive allocations. Gala Film itself will initially receive 50% for ongoing development and marketing, with this percentage decreasing as the platform moves towards full decentralization.

Beyond distribution, $FILM will enable various functionalities on the platform, such as powering up content through $FILM Boosts, purchasing digital collectibles, and facilitating community-driven projects through a unique crowdfunding system.

Transition from POPCORN! to $FILM

Throughout 2024, Gala Film has utilized POPCORN! as an initial utility token. At the TGE, POPCORN! holders will receive $FILM at a 1:10 conversion rate. Post-TGE, POPCORN! will no longer hold utility, and $FILM allocations will be directly tied to user activity within the ecosystem.

Exchanging $FILM

Post-launch, $FILM will be exchangeable on GalaChain via GalaConnect, formerly known as GalaSwap. This decentralized exchange will allow users to swap $FILM with $GALA, offering liquidity and access to $FILM for those who did not participate in the TGE. Although centralized exchange listings are not confirmed, Gala Film anticipates robust peer-to-peer trading facilitated by its decentralized infrastructure.
