Hong Kong Monetary Authority Announces Tender for 5-Year Government Bonds

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), acting on behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSAR), has announced the re-opening of a tender for 5-year Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) government bonds. The bonds, identified by issue number 05GB2912001, are part of the Infrastructure Bond Programme and will offer an additional HKD1.5 billion. The bonds will mature on December 5, 2029, carrying an interest rate of 3.23% per annum, payable semi-annually. Indicative pricing on March 3, 2025, is set at 99.59, with an annualized yield of 3.352%.

Participation and Terms

Participation in the tender is restricted to Primary Dealers appointed under the Infrastructure Bond Programme. Interested parties must apply through these dealers, with each tender requiring a minimum of HKD50,000 or multiples thereof. The accrued interest for successful bids on the issue date, March 6, 2025, is set at 402.64 per minimum denomination of HKD50,000.
