IOTA Community Backs Rebased Protocol Upgrade with Overwhelming Vote

The IOTA community has demonstrated strong support for the proposed Rebased protocol upgrade. According to the IOTA Foundation Blog, a significant majority of IOTA token holders have voted in favor of the upgrade, marking a pivotal moment in the cryptocurrency's development.

The governance vote, which took place from December 2 to December 17, 2024, resulted in a resounding 98.37% of participants voting to approve the upgrade. A total of 31,647,575,919,696,580 votes supported the transition to IOTA Rebased, while only 1.48% opposed it. The vote drew a participation rate of 7.52%, with abstentions accounting for 0.15% of the votes.

Development and Testing

The IOTA Foundation is actively preparing for the mainnet release of the Rebased protocol. The engineering team has already launched a public testnet, inviting developers and partners to adapt their applications to the new technology stack.
