(Rejected) JPMorgan, Toshiba and Ciena Build the First Quantum Key Distribution Network for Blockchain Applications Resistant to Quantum Attacks
On February 17, leading global financial services firm JPMorgan Chase announced that it will cooperate with Toshiba and Ciena to deploy and test the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) blockchain.

It is the first to resist quantum computing attacks, providing keys for encryption of data streams, supporting 800 Gbps data rates for mission-critical applications.
“At this time, QKD is the only solution that has been mathematically proven to defend against a potential quantum computing-based attack, with security guarantees based on the laws of quantum physics.”
The research team says the newly developed QKD network has the ability to instantly detect and defend against eavesdroppers
JPMorgan tweeted that:
“We are excited to have demonstrated that QKD can effectively secure communications between the various nodes in the Liink network against future quantum attacks.”
Liink, the world's first production-grade peer-to-peer blockchain network dominated by banks, the QKD network protects communications between nodes on Liink from future quantum attacks.
The proof-of-concept network infrastructure relies on Toshiba multiplexed QKD systems manufactured by Toshiba Europe at its Cambridge UK base and Ciena's Waveserver 5 platform, which is equipped with 800 Gbps optical layer encryption and is powered by a Ciena 6500 photonic solution.
The tests were conducted in JPMorgan's fiber production simulation lab, the announcement said.
Ciena CTO Steve Alexander said the security of encryption is especially important now that much of the information is transmitted over fiber-optic networks.
