Meg Whitman Joins CoreWeave Board as Independent Director

CoreWeave, a leading AI hyperscaling company, has announced the appointment of Meg Whitman as an independent member of its Board of Directors. In her new role, Whitman will serve as Chairperson of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and will also be a part of the Audit Committee, according to CoreWeave.

Meg Whitman brings a wealth of experience to CoreWeave, having held significant leadership roles in both the tech industry and public service. Most recently, she served as the United States Ambassador to Kenya from July 2022 until November 2024. Her career also includes serving as the CEO of Quibi Holdings, LLC, a mobile media company, from March 2018 to February 2021. Before that, Whitman was the CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise from November 2015 to June 2017.

Whitman's tenure at Hewlett-Packard Company, where she was CEO from September 2011 to July 2015 and Chairman of its board from July 2014 to November 2015, is noted for her leadership during a transformative period for the company. Additionally, her decade-long leadership at eBay Inc. from 1998 to 2008 solidified her reputation as a pioneering executive in the tech sector.

Whitman's appointment is part of a broader strategic initiative by CoreWeave to strengthen its governance and expand its leadership in AI innovations. The company has recently appointed Glenn Hutchins as Lead Independent Director and Karen Boone as an independent board member and Audit Committee Chairperson. These appointments come at a time when CoreWeave is actively expanding its footprint, including a pending acquisition of AI developer Weights & Biases and a strategic partnership with OpenAI valued at up to $11.9 billion.
