Meta has officially launched Muse Image and previewed Muse Video, two advanced generative AI models developed by its Superintelligence Labs. Announced on July 7, 2026, these tools aim to redefine how users create and share digital content across Meta’s platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook.

Muse Image stands out for its versatility, offering high-precision editing and the ability to compose visuals from multiple references. The model leverages data from Instagram to provide social context during image creation and integrates with Muse Spark for collaborative media generation. Meanwhile, Muse Video extends these capabilities into video production, delivering high visual fidelity alongside native audio support. Both tools are designed to empower creators and businesses with seamless, AI-driven workflows.

Technical Highlights

Unlike traditional models that directly map prompts to outputs, Muse Image operates as an “agent,” utilizing tools like search and coding to enhance accuracy. A key innovation is its self-refinement capability, which allows the model to iteratively improve its results during the generation process. This feature, which emerged during reinforcement learning training, has been critical in achieving higher-quality outputs.

The model also scales computational reasoning dynamically at test time. By allocating more compute resources, Muse Image can perform deeper reasoning and take more refinement steps, leading to improved outputs. This approach balances visual and textual processing, optimizing for human-preference metrics.

For video, Muse Video is still in early development but already offers competitive performance in areas like temporal consistency and audio-video synchronization. Meta is actively addressing gaps in fast motion physics and plans to roll out the tool to creators in the coming months.

Deep Integration Across Meta Platforms

Muse Image and Muse Video are tightly integrated with Meta’s ecosystem. Muse Image is currently available in the Meta AI app, Instagram Stories (U.S.), and WhatsApp (selected regions), with Facebook integration coming soon. Users can collaborate on content creation with friends, reimagine existing photos, and utilize trend-based inspiration directly within these applications.

A significant addition is the Content Seal feature, an invisible watermark that identifies AI-generated content. This watermark remains intact even after cropping, resizing, or compression, and Meta has introduced a detection tool to help users verify an image’s provenance. The company plans to extend this protection to video in the future.

Market Context: Muse DAO (MUSE) Token

The launch of Muse Image and Muse Video coincides with lingering interest in the Muse DAO (MUSE) cryptocurrency, though the two are unrelated. As of July 4, 2026, MUSE is trading at $0.30, representing a steep decline from its all-time high of $95.97 in July 2025. The token, originally tied to NFT infrastructure, has seen sharp volatility, hitting a low of $0.2397 earlier this year. Its current market cap stands at approximately $203,680, making it a niche asset within the crypto market.

While the Muse DAO token’s performance reflects challenges in the broader NFT and decentralized exchange space, Meta’s Muse AI tools are squarely positioning the company as a leader in generative AI. Investors and creators alike will be closely watching how these tools impact content production and engagement metrics across Meta’s platforms.

With Muse Video still in preview and further technical refinements underway, Meta’s next steps could define its competitive edge in the rapidly growing generative AI sector.
