Microsoft opens new voluntary exit offer for eligible employees
Microsoft said on Monday it is introducing a new Voluntary Exit Offer for eligible employees in participating organizations, adding another workforce-adjustment tool as it adapts to changing business needs. The company said the program is voluntary and time-limited, and that eligible workers will receive support if they choose to leave.
Who is eligible
In a post shared by Amy Coleman, executive vice president and chief people officer, Microsoft said the offer is available to eligible employees in participating teams in Canada, India, the United Kingdom and the United States at level 70 and below. The company said some organizations are participating and others are not, with eligibility varying according to business priorities, customer commitments and workforce needs.
Microsoft said eligible employees will receive an email with a link to their Voluntary Exit Offer details within the next few hours. It described the program as providing financial support and career planning resources for employees who may be considering a future outside the company.
Context for the move
The company said the new offer builds on what it learned earlier this year through its Voluntary Retirement Program. Microsoft also said the latest program is meant to create greater flexibility and, where possible, more ways for employees to shape their next chapter while allowing participating organizations to adjust staffing to changing needs.
The post did not provide participation targets, acceptance expectations or financial terms for the new offer. It also said the program is new for Microsoft and that the company will learn from it as it continues to support employees in building new skills and, where appropriate, finding new opportunities across the company.
Microsoft shares were last quoted at $527.79 on 2026-10-26 at 15:25:00Z, up 0.63% over 24 hours, according to the market data provided.
