On-Chain Innovation: Transforming Creator Economics and User Experiences

Timothy Morano   Dec 03, 2024 13:20 0 Min Read

The potential of on-chain technology to revolutionize creator economics and enhance consumer experiences was the focal point of a recent discussion among industry leaders at the Web3 Social Day event. Key figures from the blockchain and tech sectors shared their insights on how these innovations could reshape the digital landscape, according to Mask Network.

Panel Discussion Highlights

The panel featured Andreas, Co-Founder of Fileverse, Kimmo Sirén, Co-Founder of Orb, and Charles-Nicolas Gaubert-Amy, Partnerships Lead at Clique, moderated by Guo Liu, Co-Founder & CTO of Matters Labs. Each panelist brought a unique perspective on the evolving dynamics of the creator economy.

Current Challenges and Future Outlook

During the discussion, Andreas emphasized the need for greater control over data and identity, advocating for a universal internet account that encompasses users' social graphs and preferences. He noted that Fileverse aims to empower users by providing decentralized alternatives to centralized tools like Google Workspace.

Kimmo Sirén highlighted fairness in the creator economy, stressing the importance of equitable revenue distribution between platforms, creators, and consumers. Orb's innovative sticker packs, which share revenue with both creators and users, were cited as an example of this approach.

Charles-Nicolas Gaubert-Amy from Clique pointed out the necessity of simplifying on-chain complexities for users. He discussed Clique's efforts to integrate Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to facilitate smoother interactions between off-chain and on-chain data, enhancing user experiences in consumer applications.

Bridging the Web2 and Web3 Gap

Guo Liu stressed the importance of user-centric design and practical benefits to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 adoption. He argued that for mass adoption, Web3 platforms must clearly demonstrate how they improve users' lives beyond technical jargon.

The panelists concurred that creators could play a pivotal role in this transition by advocating for Web3 benefits, provided the platforms offer a seamless and frictionless experience.

Addressing Privacy and Ownership

Andreas challenged the notion that users are indifferent to privacy, citing the rising popularity of privacy-focused platforms like Signal. He argued that privacy should be an integral, invisible component of user experiences, making them more attractive and trustworthy.

Kimmo Sirén emphasized the need to redefine ownership in Web3, not just as token possession but as the freedom and control it offers creators over their content and revenue streams.

Scalability and Social Integration

The discussion also touched on scalability challenges in Web3. Kimmo Sirén noted that while decentralized infrastructures exist, achieving the performance and user-friendliness of Web2 platforms remains a significant hurdle. Andreas added that cultural shifts in product design are necessary to appeal to a broader audience.

Moreover, the integration of social features was identified as crucial for creator success on Web3 platforms. The panelists agreed that robust social engagement tools, aligned with decentralization and privacy principles, are essential for building vibrant digital communities.

The insights shared at the Web3 Social Day underscore the transformative potential of on-chain technology in redefining the future of creator economics and consumer experiences.
