SpaceXAI Chooses NVIDIA Vera CPU for Advanced AI Expansion
SpaceXAI has announced the adoption of NVIDIA’s Vera CPUs to power its next generation of agentic AI applications, marking a significant step in one of the most ambitious AI deployments to date. The Vera CPU, NVIDIA’s first processor specifically designed for AI agents, will underpin SpaceXAI’s efforts to scale its infrastructure for Grok and advance into orbital AI computing through its Starmind satellite initiative.
Agentic AI, which involves autonomous systems capable of taking real-time actions, increasingly relies on CPUs to handle tasks like data processing, code execution, and simulation. NVIDIA Vera CPUs, featuring 88 custom Olympus cores and delivering up to 1.8x faster task completion compared to traditional x86 processors, are optimized to meet these demands. By reducing idle GPU time and accelerating orchestration-heavy workloads, the Vera CPU aims to boost overall system efficiency.
The collaboration extends beyond Earth. SpaceXAI plans to deploy its first-generation Starmind satellite, integrating a Vera Rubin NVL72 system optimized for orbital AI operations. This represents one of the first attempts to extend advanced AI computing infrastructure beyond terrestrial data centers into space, where power and thermal constraints present unique challenges.

"Vera gives AI agents the CPU performance to act in real time, executing complex tasks efficiently." At the heart of SpaceXAI’s expansion is NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform, combining the Vera CPU with Rubin GPUs and other components like NVLink interconnects and Spectrum-X Ethernet. Designed for large-scale AI training and inference, Vera Rubin emphasizes power efficiency and cost reduction, important considerations as SpaceXAI scales toward gigawatts of computing capacity.
Beyond its technical significance, this collaboration underscores NVIDIA’s aggressive push into AI infrastructure. The Vera Rubin platform has already been demonstrated in NVIDIA’s Engineering SuperLab with OpenAI workloads. However, recent reports suggest NVIDIA warned major clients about a 15% price hike for its AI server systems, including the Vera Rubin lineup, slated for early 2027 delivery.
