Taiko, a notable player in the blockchain industry, has unveiled its 2025 Grant Fund, allocating a substantial $25 million to support innovative projects and community members. This initiative aims to foster development in various sectors, including decentralized finance (DeFi), artificial intelligence (AI), real-world assets (RWA), SocialFi, and gaming, according to taiko.mirror.xyz.

Supporting Diverse Innovations

The grant program is designed to assist developers, researchers, and builders focused on groundbreaking ideas. It also complements another Taiko initiative, "Taiko Takeoff," which aims to create opportunities and support for the community. Applicants are encouraged to leverage Taiko’s Ethereum-equivalence, permissionless proposing, and proving capabilities, enhancing their projects' alignment with Taiko's strengths.

Guidelines and Opportunities

General guidelines for the grant program include the requirement that all smart contracts and frontend code be open-sourced from the project's inception unless otherwise agreed. Projects involving decentralized applications (dApps) are encouraged to prioritize Taiko as one of their initial platforms, though integration with other L1/L2/L3s is possible. Taiko Labs retains the option to invest up to $250,000 in subsequent fundraising rounds within a year post-grant acceptance.

Grantees must establish a formal legal agreement with Taiko, detailing mutual expectations and responsibilities, and undergo KYC/KYB checks. Additionally, details of the grant award, including token vesting, must remain confidential until publicly disclosed by Taiko.

Application Process

Applications for the grant are now open, and interested parties are encouraged to submit their proposals through the official application form. The Grants Council will review submissions on a rolling basis and contact applicants accordingly. This proactive approach aims to ensure timely support for promising projects.

Community Engagement and Contributions

Taiko encourages community participation through various channels. Open positions are available on their job board, and contributors can engage with Taiko via GitHub, where they can earn a GitPOAP and be recognized as contributors in the README. This initiative underscores Taiko's commitment to building a future grounded in community collaboration and technological advancement.
