Torque Drift 2 Update 10 Introduces New Mazda and Toyota Models, Pro Car Bundles
Motorsport gaming studio Grease Monkey Games, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has launched Update 10 of its flagship drift racing simulator, Torque Drift 2 (TD2), available for PC on the Epic Games Store. The game, which has accrued more than 400,000 downloads, is a significant part of the Motorverse ecosystem and utilizes the REVV token for purchasing premium cars and parts, according to Animoca Brands.
New Additions and Features
Update 10 introduces several new gameplay elements, including the iconic Daikoku track, an expanded car lineup featuring legendary models like the Toyota AE86 and Mazda RX3, and vehicles driven by professional drifters such as Adam LZ, Odi Bakchis, Chris Forsberg, Sammit, and the RTR Ford Mustang Team. Additionally, new performance parts tuning options are available.
The update follows the successful Early Access Update 9, which introduced a new in-game virtual currency, freestyle mode, multiplayer leaderboards, and an in-game shop. Update 10 adds Lead and Chase challenges, a beloved feature from Torque Drift 1, providing players with thrilling professional drifting experiences.
Lead and Chase Challenges
In Lead events, gamers aim to set the best score before the timer runs out or they cross the finish line, earning drift achievements and passing through Clipping Points and Zones. In Chase events, players race against a set Lead and must beat their score by replicating their moves and earning achievements like “Tandem” and “Door Dive.”
Expanded Car Lineup and Pro Car Bundles
Torque Drift 2 Update 10 expands its car lineup with the introduction of new vehicles, such as the Toyota AE86 and Mazda RX3. Players can now purchase Pro Car Bundles, which include vehicles driven by professional drifters. These bundles come with fully equipped cars, parts, custom keychains, and bobbleheads.
Players can use REVV tokens to purchase Limited Edition cars and parts in the game, receiving a 30% discount on limited-edition Nissan and Subaru cars. REVV tokens can be earned in-game and staked via the Motorverse Hub for perks such as in-game benefits and fan experiences.
New Events and Customization Options
Update 10 also introduces an events tab and scheduler, creating a dynamic gameplay area with new daily events and challenges. Players are given score targets, tracks, layouts, and cars for various events, allowing them to diversify their gameplay.
The update offers extensive customization options with performance parts tuning. Players can enhance their vehicles with turbos, engines, gearboxes, angle kits, and ECU modifications. New body kits, including Liberty Walk, are available for further customization and personalization.
“With Update 10, we are bringing the greatest drifting experience to the world,” said Arran Potter, CEO of Grease Monkey Games. “The new Lead and Chase challenges and the addition of the iconic Daikoku track will bring an even more realistic and authentic racing environment and give gamers new ways to drive and customize their cars.”
Building a Vibrant Ecosystem
Since its initial release in Early Access in October 2023, Torque Drift 2 has been downloaded by more than 400,000 players. The game offers extensive profile and garage customization options, realistic car physics, and performance tuning for PC peripherals, providing a “play-your-way” experience.
Torque Drift 2 features numerous licensed partnerships with prominent motorsport organizations and car manufacturers, including Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Formula DRIFT, Konig, and Mishimoto. More partnerships are expected to be added in the future.
In 2022, Animoca Brands and Grease Monkey Games partnered with Formula DRIFT, a prominent US-based motorsport drifting series. This partnership evolves further with the addition of RTR Mustang Team car bundles in Update 10, allowing players to drive the same cars featured in Formula DRIFT.
