US Democrat Johnathan Herzog Campaigns on Bitcoin for a Decentralized and Open-Source Future
In Bitcoin news, rising political figure and congressional candidate, Jonathan Herzog has been lashing out at the old guard of the US government, urging them to embrace cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

Congressional candidate Jonathan Herzog has been very public about the US government’s necessity to embrace crypto and blockchain to not fall behind other nations.
Jonathan Herzog is running for Congress in New York’s 10th district and will be challenging Jerrold Nadler in the Democratic primaries. Nadler has held the seat for almost thirty years, but Herzog believes its time for a change and appears to be appealing to the bitcoin and blockchain community to get him over the line.
Herzog is a former Iowa campaign staffer for US Presidential candidate Andrew Yang and appears to have adopted many of the Crypto-Candidate’s policy positions, including Yang’s central campaign pillar – Universal Basic Income – where all Americans above the age of 18 would receive $1000 each month, regardless of their income or employment status.
Herzog’s Hoists Bitcoin Flag
On May 24, Herzog responded to a Twitter post by CNBC on how billionaire and Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban was afraid of ‘technologically illiterate’ candidates like Joe Biden and President Donald Trump. In his own Tweet, Herzog said, “Time for a Representative who knows what #Bitcoin is!” while alluded to his upcoming debate with the less youthful Nadler.
In a more recent Tweet, Herzog again called for the support of the crypto community. He said, “It’s time for a Representative at the vanguard of this era’s civil rights fights. Our future is decentralized and open source. #Bitcoin #Ethereum. It’s time for deep freedom, not shallow equality. For the people. It’s time to move NY forward.”
Herzog has also been very vocal in his campaign about the need for a National Crypto Regulation; similar to the one that has been rolled out in the state of Wyoming. Per his campaign site, “It’s time for the federal government to create clear guidelines as to how cryptocurrencies/digital asset markets will be treated and regulated so that investment can proceed with all relevant information. It’s time to end the era of Ponzi scheme inequality. It’s time to bail out the people, not the banks. It’s time to build, but the structural problems we face can’t be solved through market-based solutions alone. We need to bring Bitcoin and crypto innovation back to New York.”
