ROLLUPS

Rollups are Layer 2 scaling solutions for Ethereum, enhancing speed and reducing costs. There are two main types: Optimistic Rollups and Zero-Knowledge (ZK) Rollups. Optimistic Rollups, implemented by projects like Optimism ($OP) and Arbitrum ($ARB), use fraud proofs to allow challenges to transaction validity, focusing on increasing Ethereum's transaction throughput. Zero-Knowledge Rollups (zk-Rollups), used by zkSync, StarkWare, and Hermes Network, utilize zero-knowledge proofs to enhance scalability and privacy. Both methods bundle multiple transactions into a single proof, verified on the main chain. Optimistic Rollups are generally faster but less secure, while ZK Rollups offer more robust security but can be more complex.

Ethereum's Dencun Upgrade: Catalyst for Ecosystem Expansion and Price Surge in 2024
The Ethereum network is poised for significant growth in 2024, thanks to the Dencun Upgrade, which aims to enhance network efficiency, scalability, and decrease transaction costs.
Vitalik Buterin Analyzes Ethereum's Layer 2 Solutions
On October 31, 2023, Vitalik Buterin discussed Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem, highlighting trade-offs between Rollups, Validiums, and Disconnected Systems, securing and scalability, pre-confirmations, trustless Ethereum interactions, and potential chain transformation into Validium.
Polygon Solutions to Ethereum Scaling Challenges: An Overview
Ethereum's scaling problem is a long-standing issue, with its steady evolution ensuring safety and decentralization. Polygon 2.0 aims to address this by enhancing Ethereum's scalability. Polygon 2.0 consists of Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and Polygon CDK, designed to be interoperable for swift cross-chain transactions. These chains, which mirror the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enable developers to develop applications challenging to achieve on account-based systems like Ethereum. Polygon Labs plans to transform Polygon PoS into a zkEVM validium, mirroring Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) capabilities.
